Shanghai 2010 - 71x76cm
I have been following the construction of the French Pavilion for the Shanghai 2010 Expo for 2 years.
My images form an exhibition of 16 prints.
The exhibition will tour to 7 “Alliances Francaises” centers (French cultural centers around the world) across China.
Dates and venues for the exhibitions are as follows:
March 2010 ; Alliance française de Beijing
April 2010 : Alliance française de Qingdao
April 19th 2010 : Alliance française de Shanghai
June 2010 : Alliance française de Nanjing
July 2010 : Alliance française de XiAn
August 2010 : Alliance française de Chongqing
December 2010: Alliance française de Dalian

Bleu blanc rouge - 53x78cm

Nuit étoilée sur le pavillon - 63x72cm
I experimented a bit with photography boundaries in these 16 images, using various kinds of compositing techniques like High Dynamic Range imagery (HDRI), collage, merging, juxtaposition or mosaic . The idea for this exhibition is to draw a parallel between the ‘criss-cross’ structure of the Pavilion itself and the ‘crossing’ between images. Some are ‘genetically modified’ images. Some are ‘untouched’ snapshots.
I would like to thank Canson company for generously sponsoring the printing with their delicate papers.
All the photos of the exhibition are printed on 5 different Canson Infinity papers and mounted on aluminium.

About Eric Leleu
I have been living in China as a photographer for a few years. My brain is obsessed by concepts such as authority, consumerism, capitalism, geopolitics, sociology or urbanity... In a word, I am interested in our contemporaries (you and I) and the world as it becomes. My focus is the dynamics of public spaces: the interrelationship between the authority, the crowd and the individual. As for my eye, it is looking for colors and intensity. My dream is simple: having a few of my photos living longer than me...
