This is a series called ‘subtitles’. It presents red banners with Chinese characters on them, and the translation below… Something I always wanted to understand since I am in China. What messages the Chinese government actually deliver to its citizens ? It is a work I started recently but that I decided to stand-by for a while, it is not going the direction I wanted, it is too dark and ‘photojournalistic’ to my taste… I want to follow it in different cities in China to make the work more global and comprehensive.
Under progress…

very interesting series
however, some of the translation are wrong
e.g. in the picture whose subtitle reads “maintain good faith that destruction will occur”, the words on the banner actually mean “stick to the priciple that demolition should be carried out with honesty”
thanks charlie. i must admit the translation had been done quickly. they are not definitive because the photos are not definitive neither. i want to follow this series all around china…
your translation is even more interesting actually ! honesty…
are you chinese ? from where ?
as a chinese, what is your feeling when you see those red banners on the streets ?
